Accessibility

Publicart.ie is aware of the importance of ensuring that our site is accessible to everyone. We strive to achieve and maintain levels of accessibility that conform to Level AA of the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. We have endeavoured to remove barriers to this website so that disabled people can access information and use the website as easily as possible, with all the functionality that should be expected by us all:

Page structure

Each page includes a clear heading. Any consequent headings are introduced in a structured hierarchy. They are also clearly marked up - main headings use 'h1' tags, subheadings use 'h2' tags and so on.

Links

We try to ensure that links make sense out of context or in isolation and that they accurately describe the pages they point to.

Images

We ensure that there is a text description for all images (alt tags), unless they are being used purely for decoration or tracking.

Mapping

Due to the nature of the mapping on this site, some elements are not AA compatible, we have however supplied a version of the map that can be displayed without Javascript and a textual description of the map markers so that the content is as accessible as possible.

What if I have problem using the website?

Whilst Publicart.ie strive to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website.

We are always seeking to improve our site above and beyond the guidelines that should enable us to bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall accessibility. In the meantime should you experience any difficulty in accessing our website, or would simply like to give us feedback on the accessibility and usability of our website, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Fort Camden Commissions

Five artists created new artworks specially commissioned by Cork County Council as part of the redevelopment programme of the Fort Camden military installation overlooking the entrance to Cork Harbour, Crosshaven.

Four visual artists, James L. Hayes, Julia Pallone, Julie Merriman, Monica Boyle and poet Nell Regan were selected for commission. They spent seven months working on the site and in their studios to create a series of dramatic installations that re-imagine the life and history of the Fort. The commissioned works were installed in the Casemate building at Fort Camden.  What visitors will find are startling transformations within the buildings.
