Deadline: 4pm, 17 September 2010

The Strangford Lough and Lecale Partnership(SLLP), in partnership with Down District Council and Ards Borough Council and as part of the Turn O’ The Tide Programme, is seeking submissions from artists, or suitably qualified and / or experienced practitioners for the placement of temporary art in highly prominent places around Strangford Lough where the public can interface with them through a visual, aural and/or tactile experience that will leave a lasting impression of, and raise questions about, the area’s biodiversity.

The aim is to use public art to present some aspect of the area’s biodiversity or geodiversity to get people thinking and talking about it. This might include presenting aspects of the Lough’s exceptional marine and terrestrial bio-diversity, geology and tidal system that come together to make the area a fascinating European nature conservation site.

Talking Points will be part of the build-up to a massive celebration event for Strangford Lough in May 2011. At the time of advertisement, the total budget available for this integrated public art project is £6,000. The emphasis is on achieving the greatest impact with the maximum number of local people and visitors and for this reason some key prominent locations have been considered though others may be suggested at the artists’ discretion.

The Mourne Heritage Trust wishes to appoint artists to create original pieces of public artwork at four locations across the Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Co.

Deadline: 17 September 2010

Longhouse is currently looking for applications from artists who wish to undertake a period of action research. There are 5 bursaries available for 2010/11. Each bursary will run from October 2010 – March 2011. Artists are required to use the bursary to pro-actively discover new contexts for their work via the exploration of different approaches to socially engaged practice in the public realm.

They are inviting applications from artists for action research proposals under the umbrella theme of ‘connections’ – how artists and cultural activity can make connections between people, people and place (physical and metaphorical), and between people and knowledge all relating to the current climate and context of regeneration and the public realm.

This year each of the selected artists will receive support from lead artist/mentor, Scott Farlow during their bursary, through one to one meetings and three group workshops which will enable the artists to apply their learning to a real’ place and brief.
