My Space

Artist Name(s) Cecilia Moore
Artwork title My Space
Context/Background My Space was a project by artist Cecilia Moore, which ran for a year from 2008 to 2009, changing every few weeks. Six plexi glass units each on a wooden plinth traveled to various venues across Ireland. It developed from an idea to create a facility to show small scale installations and three dimensional work in non gallery settings and would be available to artists of all levels. Exhibiting in My Space would give artists the opportunity to present art work to new audiences around Ireland.

Description

Commissioned by Breaking Ground under the Local Artists commissioning strand, Cecilia put out an open call for submissions in early 2008 for artworks to be displayed in perspex units throughout the course of the year.

She received a phenomenal response to My Space, with over seventy artists participating in the project over the course of the year. My Space launched in June 2008 in Ballymun Civic Centre, and traveled to the National College of Ireland in the IFSC Dublin; The Helix, DCU; MacDonagh Junction, Kilkenny; Limerick City Museum, returning to the Civic Centre in Ballymun in July 2009, presenting three themed displays for it's finale.
