Sculptural installation by Aideen Barry for the Ballina Arts Centre


Mayo County Council has selected Aideen Barry for the Ballina Arts Centre public art commission, which has been funded by the Per Cent for Art Scheme.  

Her work, Minefield, is due to be installed in the foyer of the Ballina Arts Centre, and will be launched officially on Saturday 24 March 2012. Following the launch, Aideen Barry will deliver a series of talks, dates to be confirmed.

Aideen Barry created Minefield, a sculptural installation, following her residency at the NASA Kennedy Space Center. It is part of her series of work entitled, Weapons of Mass Consumption.

Focus On



Greystones Educate Together National School appointed a voluntary committee with relevant expertise to oversee the per cent for art commissioning process. An external curator, Máire Davey, was appointed specifically for her expertise in working in a highly collaborative way as meaningful involvement from the students and school was viewed as central to the process. The procurement route chosen was limited invited competition.
