City (Re)Searches: Experiences of Publicness, Belfast 20-23 February 2013

 

Community Arts Partnership, an international group of researchers including Vagabond Reviews (IRL), Mary Jane Jacobs (US), Jeanne van Heeswijk (NL), Susanne Bosch (NI/DE), Fernando Marquespenteado (BRA), John Mulloy (IRL), Niall Crowley (IRL), Niall O' Baoill (IRL) and Fiona Woods (IRL), will stage a series of events and conversations in an inflatable pop-up space in Writers’ Square, Belfast.

This international public arts inquiry explores issues of access and participation in the cultural life of our society and is inviting community artists, community activists, policy makers, funders, politicians, cultural leaders and the general public to take part and contribute to this unique four-day event.

Greystones Educate Together National School appointed a voluntary committee with relevant expertise to oversee the per cent for art commissioning process. An external curator, Máire Davey, was appointed specifically for her expertise in working in a highly collaborative way as meaningful involvement from the students and school was viewed as central to the process. The procurement route chosen was limited invited competition.
