Sightless Cinema - New Writing

Sightless Cinema by White Cane Audio Theatre, led by theatre deviser Ciarán Taylor with composer and radio programme maker Rachel Ní Chuinn was commissioned under the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (dlr) Per Cent for Art Scheme.

Ciarán has recently written for about the participatory commission and his experiences during the collaborative process.

Ciara King, Assistant Arts Officer-Arts Programme Development, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has contributed an introduction and context to the commissioning process.

Focus On



Greystones Educate Together National School appointed a voluntary committee with relevant expertise to oversee the per cent for art commissioning process. An external curator, Máire Davey, was appointed specifically for her expertise in working in a highly collaborative way as meaningful involvement from the students and school was viewed as central to the process. The procurement route chosen was limited invited competition.
