Visual Arts Plymouth is seeking expressions of interest from UK and international artists for a temporary public art commission as part of Plymouth Art Weekender 2016.
Artists are invited to submit their work for consideration for a commission to be realised in Plymouth city centre as part of the Weekender which takes place 23 / 24 / 25th September 2016. It is anticipated that the work/s will be situated or take place along Armada Way, on a route between Plymouth Train Station and the Civic Centre.
The artist will receive a £1,000 fee and a budget up to £3000 to cover design, production, materials and installation, plus agreed travel and accommodation expenses.
We do not require full proposals at this stage. Selected artists will work closely with the Festival Coordinator on developing their proposals, site, public participation, education and outreach programme. Experience of working in the public realm is not essential, but please reference this in your statement, and why you feel your work may be suitable. All art forms will be considered but please consider the temporary nature of the commission.
Visual Arts Plymouth will shortlist 3 artists and select one to develop the commission. All expressions of interest will be added to a database and will be considered for future Plymouth Art Weekender events and commissions. All artists will be informed of the decision by Friday 6th May.
Please email to email@example.com with Public Art as subject:
