Private & Regeneration

Regeneration programmes are often set up by government to regenerate an area, this can include the building of new towns, redevelopment of housing schemes and infrastructural programmes. They are funded sometimes through a combination of public and private funding through investors. Such programmes have been keen to invest in art and have utilised programmes such as the Per Cent for Art Scheme to great impact. Examples of such regeneration programmes in Ireland who have invested in arts and public art programmes include Breaking Ground, Ballymun, Dublin Docklands Authority, Moyross, Limerick and Sligo Harbour Regeneration.

Private

Private developers and businesses in Ireland have invested their own resources in works of art for new buildings, development and urban programmes, such a shopping centres or business parks.

Some Local Authorities have instigated development levies that contribute funds back into a local culture and arts fund which have at times been used for public arts programming.

Public Private Partnerships

Public-private partnerships (PPPs) are government services or private business ventures, which are funded and operated through a partnership of government and one or more private sector companies.

Many of these schemes involve investment in public infrastructure and development and are eligible for Per Cent for Art funding.
