Evaluation

Commissioners often seek evaluation. Sometimes evaluation forms an integral part of the process and is set up at the beginning with an expert evaluator on board who is funded out of separate money. This is the best approach. Other times evaluation might include: a written report of the process and work, written by artist or project curator; copies of reviews and press releases; comment books and statements; peer feedback; critical texts; images of the work and the work in process can all be used in an evaluation report. Often, artists and commissioners have a good sense of what worked and what didn't. Evaluation is most helpful in giving time to reflect on this and learn for future situations.
